Your Weekly Kingsley eNews

Kingsley Family Wellness Day – TODAY!

Please mark your calendar for a day to celebrate the health and wellness of Kingsley teachers and families.  On May 10 from 9am-3pm, Northside Hospital will be in the Kingsley gymnasium performing free health screenings.  We hope that EVERY mom, dad, grandparent, friend and neighbor in the Kingsley community takes advantage of this opportunity.  Northside Hospital will check blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, weight and other cardiovascular risk factors.  Please call today to schedule a time for your FREE HEALTH SCREENING.  Appointments are not required but encouraged.  Call Mrs. West at 678-874-8902 today to schedule your time.  Let’s show Northside how much Kingsley families value our health and their continued support of our school!

Grades 3-5 Field Day will be on Monday 5/21

We’ve rescheduled the upper grades’ Field Day for Monday, May 21. We definitely need help from some parents to make this day a success for our kids. If you can help with any of these shifts, please email your availability to Kate Goodhart at kgoodhart@bellsouth.net:

·         9:15-10:20 – 12 parent volunteers needed

·         10:20-11:30 – 9 parent volunteers needed

·         After lunch (about 12:15-1:00) – 6 parent volunteers needed

·         1:00-2:00 – Parents welcome to join in or cheer on the 5th grade kickball game
Yearbooks

All pre-purchased yearbooks have been sent home via students. Due to overprinting by our vendor, we have 17 yearbooks available for purchase. This limited supply will go on sale at 8:00 a.m. on Friday morning for $30 per yearbook.  If you want to purchase a yearbook, either bring your $30 cash (exact amount) or check (made out to Kingsley Charter Foundation) to the front office Friday morning. You may also send in your payment in a sealed envelope with your student, but please make sure your child knows to come to the office as close to the end of morning announcements as possible.  Because of the limited supply, we cannot hold books based on verbal requests—we must distribute based on a first payment basis.

Volunteer Recognition is next Tuesday – Log your hours by this Sunday

Our annual Volunteer Recognition event will be hosted next Tuesday night to allow the Council, administration and faculty to show their appreciation for our fantastic parent volunteers.
Between now and Sunday, please take a few minutes to log your volunteer time in our K12 Ambit tool. Remember, every family is supposed to serve 16 hours each year either through volunteering or donating needed items to the school or for events, and many of you have met the Charter Challenge by doubling that commitment and serving 32 or more hours.  Make sure we know it by logging your hours using these guidelines:

·    1 hour for attending an event regardless of how long the event lasted (1 hour per family, not per parent).

·    For cooked items for class activities or school events, 1 hour for home made items and 0.5 hours for purchased items

·    Actual amount of time worked for any events or activities you've assisted with.

We look forward to seeing your name on the recognition list!
Room Parents – Turn in your receipts!
As we near the end of the school year, our Treasurer, Brian Sims, will be working to close the financial books. If you have class-related expenses for which you want reimbursement, you must submit a reimbursement for with the related purchase receipt(s) by May 18. If you have any questions, please contact Brian Sims at brianls2@comcast.net.
