2011 Annual Holiday Toy Drive
Sponsored by the DCSS Social Work Department
The School Social Work Department is requesting that faculty members and student service clubs consider donating a new toy in support of the holiday toy drive. Our goal is to collect 100 toys for boys and girls ages 3 to 12 years old. Please bring your unwrapped toy to the main office of your school. Toys will be picked up every Friday from November 11th until December 9th. Toys will be distributed on December 17, 2011. Thank you very much for your generosity.
K-Kids Raises Money for Malachi's Storehouse
K-Kids, a service club for 4th and 5th graders, is challenging all Kingsley classes to donate to the Money for Malachi's Storehouse contest! Malachi's Storehouse is an organization that serves families in need in our local Dunwoody area, and this is the 3rd year that we have supported them. Last year they used money that Kingsley raised to provide toys to the children whose families received food from Malachi's Storehouse for the holidays. Visit the Kingsley website to view the Malachi Tracking Wall.
Scholastic Book Fair Results are In
Thank you for supporting this year's book fair. The results are in...we sold right at $10,000 worth of books. Additionally, the grade level contest was tallied up, and the 2nd grade won purchased the most books with a total of 269 books. Thanks go Chick-fil-A for sponsoring this yummy contest. Additionally, Dr. Smith pulled out the win for the alien costume. True to her word, Dr. Smith greeted the students before Thanksgiving break dressed in full alien gear. Visit the Kingsley website to see her in costume.
Walking Wednesdays are taking a Winter Break!
For the safety and comfort of our students (and their parents too) our Walking Wednesday program will take a winter break during the months of December, January and February. You are welcome to continue walking to school on your own, but Kingsley’s “Walking School Bus” is in the garage until Georgia Walk to School Day on March 7. Thank You to everyone that has made this program a tremendous success – we look forward to seeing everyone again in spring 2012!
