Thank You Kingsley Work Day Volunteers!!  To the many workers that showed up Sat. - THANK YOU, THANK YOU!  To the parents who donated snacks and water - we consumed it all, thank you!!  We had a very productive day.  We started working on the beds at the front entrance according to a plan that was developed for us by a local Landscape Architect. Thanks go to Doug Brockett for
donating his time and services to our school.  We also created a bed at the corner of the parking lot where the Garden Club will be planting daffodil bulbs later this month.  In addition, the Pricinsky family planted blueberry bushes for us back by the gym and many workers were busy in the Learning Garden and elsewhere sprucing things up.  Thank you to parent Kevin Wyzykowski and DCSS Plant Services for letting us use their bobcats to help move ALL that compost and mulch from the playground area - we couldn't have accomplished what we did without their equipment.  Thanks also to our volunteer bobcat operators Allen Hunsaker (DCSS employee) and Octavio (works w/Kevin).  Another county employee, William Smiley, volunteered his time to do some much needed maintenance pruning on our oak tree by the gym.  It was a large team effort and we so appreciate the contributions of all these community members and parents, and the support of our Charter Council.  Thank you all!!!

Be a Part of International Walk to School Day on Wednesday 10/5
Don’t miss your opportunity to participate in this worldwide event! In the U.S., International Walk to School Day is expected to include more than 5,000 schools from all 50 states.  Walkers from the U.S. will join children and adults in 40 countries around the world.  Kingsley kids will be a part of this global event. We invite and encourage EVERY STUDENT to walk to school on October 5th. If your child normally rides the bus, please take them to the nearest walking school bus stop instead.  Even students from outside the Kingsley attendance zone can walk—just come to the starting point. The coveted Golden Shoe Award will be given tomorrow to the class with the highest percentage of participation. Plus, all walkers will receive a prize, and we’ll definitely be taking a group picture (it might even make it into the yearbook). So don’t miss out on the fun!
DCPC Meeting – Wednesday 10/5
Have you ever heard another parent or teacher mention FTE? Do have questions about how schools are staffed? If so, you might want to attend this month's Dunwoody Chamblee Parent Council (DCPC) meeting.
Date: October 5, 2011 (Wednesday) Meeting Time: 9:15a.m. - refreshments begin at 8:45a.m. Meeting Location: Kittredge Magnet School Topic: "Understanding staffing our schools and FTE Points" Speakers: Susan Hurst, Director of Budgets, DCSS Division of Finance and Lisa Domzal, Director of Instructional Budgeting, Staffing and Scheduling, DCSS Division of Teaching and Learning DCPC meetings are held at various public venues within the Dunwoody Chamblee area. Meetings are open and topics are geared toward the interests of parents and guardians with children in Dunwoody and Chamblee schools in the DeKalb County School System. If your student is interested in extracurricular activities or after school clubs, don’t forget that these clubs are having their first meeting this week:

Time to send in your Box Tops and Campbell Soup Labels!
Did you see the collection envelope in your student's classroom yet? Is is full of Box Tops and Campbell's Soup Labels? Every single item in those classroom envelopes turns into cash for Kingsley this school year! And in October, the classroom that turns in the most items - Box Tops + Campbell's Soup Labels - will win a huge treasure box full of treats for the whole class. Fall and Halloween pencils, erasers, bouncy balls, stickers and of course candy...over 300 items for the class to share!
Collecting Box Tops and Campbell's Soup Labels can be so easy! Put a container or envelope in your work break room for co-workers to collect for you, ask family members to collect them at their house for you, etc... last fall semester, a grandparent of a 2nd grader mailed 50 Box Tops to the school from Nebraska! Yea for grandparents!! Last spring semester, a parent sent in over 250 Box Tops because their office was re-organizing their filing system and each new Avery binder had a Box Top! Awesome! Stay tuned next week to see which class is in the lead!

All Pro Dad Breakfast at Kingsley – Thursday 10/13 7:00am
Attention Dads! Make plans now to attend the All Pro Dad's Day Breakfast on Thursday, October 13 at 7:00 a.m. in the cafeteria. Arrive early! Serving starts at 6:45 a.m. Attend with your son or daughter and enjoy breakfast, outstanding fun, and meaningful

Yogli Mogli Spirit Night – Wednesday 10/12
Next Wednesday is our first spirit night at the new Yogli Mogli here in Dunwoody. So, come out and show your Kingsley spirit. Since Progress Reports also come home on this day,
this is a great way to celebrate your student’s success. Plus, it will be fun social time for all.
