Your Weekly Kingsley eNews

The final weeks of school are going to be very busy ones—there is so much going on. Please take a few minutes to scan through each edition of the Kingsley eNews so you are completely in the loop on how to enjoy every minute and ways that you can help make the end of school time a great one for every Kingsley student.

It’s time to shower our teachers and staff with love!
This week is Staff Appreciation Week, and we have lots of plans to show them how much they mean to us.  It’s going to take a team effort though.  Our Staff Appreciation Week leads still need helpers, so please check the Kingsley website for complete details on how you can join the team to make this a memorable week for our faculty and staff.

Don’t forget Nurse Bostick!
National School Nurse Day is May 9, 2012. The DeKalb County School District school nurses and clinic assistants make valuable contributions each day to improve the health and success of DeKalb's children.  The theme for this week's celebration is "Advocacy, Access, Achievement: Making the Connection." This theme reflects the positive impact that our nurses and clinic staff members have on the health and well-being of our students.  Understanding that healthy children learn better, our school nurses and clinic assistants focus on meeting the medical needs of our children, providing education/training on many wellness and health related topics, and serve as first responders for first aid intervention. Join us in recognizing the great work done by our school nurses and clinic assistants and the positive impact that they have in the lives of our children.

Kingsley Family Wellness Day – THIS THURSDAY
Please mark your calendar for a day to celebrate the health and wellness of Kingsley teachers and families.  On May 10 from 9am-3pm, Northside Hospital will be in the Kingsley gymnasium performing free health screenings.  We hope that EVERY mom, dad, grandparent, friend and neighbor in the Kingsley community takes advantage of this opportunity.  Northside Hospital will check blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, weight and other cardiovascular risk factors.  Please call today to schedule a time for your FREE HEALTH SCREENING.  Appointments are not required but encouraged.  Call Mrs. West at 678-874-8902 today to schedule your time.  Let’s show Northside how much Kingsley families value our health and their continued support of our school!

Field Day will be rescheduled for Grade 3-5
Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate with us on Friday 5/4, but we will be rescheduling this fun-filled day for our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. Look for an email with details about the reschedule date and how to sign-up to help.

Also, kids, parents, teachers, and staff that did not get a chance to order shirts will have the opportunity to do so now. Just bring your order and payment to your homeroom teacher by this coming Monday (5/7). Shirts are $5 for youth sizes, $5 for adult S-XL and $8 for adult sizes XXL or XXXL. If you have any questions about Field Day Shirts, please contact Sharllene Knight at
sszknight@hotmail.com.

DON'T FORGET TO VOTE - ELECTIONS CLOSE THIS THURSDAY
We have some amazing parents ready to get involved with your council — seven (7) nominees in fact. However, there are only four (4) vacant positions. It’s up to you, our parents, to vote on who you would like to represent you on the Charter Council. Download your ballot to review information about the seven nominees and for complete details on how to cast your vote.
