Letter from Your Council Chair, Erin Nydam

Dear Kingsley Families:
Welcome to Kingsley Charter School!  Can you believe we are already in back to school mode?  It seems like just yesterday that we were saying goodbye to our teachers and planning our summer activities.  Although I am sad to see summer go, I am really excited about this school year.
All the things that we love about Kingsley are still here: a fantastic Administration, dedicated teachers, hardworking students and great parents. But we also have some exciting changes—Smart Boards in every classroom, a BRAND NEW copier in the work room, changes in grade assignment for some of our veteran teachers and three new teachers (and counting)—that combine to make Kingsley a great place to go to school.  These aren’t the only changes though.  We are also happy to welcome a record number of new students and their families to our Kingsley Family.  With all these changes, there are bound to be a few bumps here at the beginning of our school year.  Please be patient with our Front Office but also be sure to communicate any concerns you have with the Administration or your Charter Council.  We are all working toward a new and improved Kingsley!
We have a couple of events here at the beginning of the school year that I want to make sure you are aware of.  For all the new families to our school, I would like to invite you to join us for our New Parent Breakfast this Friday morning, August 12, at 7:30am in the Library/Media Center. This event is a great opportunity to meet other new parents, your Charter Council representatives, our principal, Dr. Smith and our assistant principal, Ms. Seabrook.  It will also give you a chance to ask any questions that may have come up the first week of school and to take a tour of the school if you have not had the opportunity to do so yet.
I also want to remind everyone about our annual Pot Luck Dinner on Friday, August 19 at 6pm on the Kingsley Field.  Last year, we had a huge turnout and had a lot of fun.  Please make sure you RSVP so the Council can plan for the correct number of people.  See our website homepage for more details.
If you have any questions or concerns throughout this school year, please feel free to contact me.  As your Council Chair, I will do everything I can to make this a great year at Kingsley for all of us.
