Hands on Kingsley Fall Work Day THIS Saturday, October 1 9am-1pm
Come play in the dirt with us and help beautify the Kingsley campus!  Weather forecast is perfect for outdoor work.  We will need several wheelbarrows and tarps so bring those if you can.  We could also use a chain saw, and someone to operate it!  Please bring gloves, shovels, rakes and pitch forks if you have them, and any other gardening
tools to help w/general pruning/weeding around campus (trowel, hand pruners, loppers). Donations of Snacks needed - Can't make it to the Fall Work day but want to help?  Please bring snack donations (chips, granola bars, crackers, etc. - no cookies or sweets please) to the Parent Headquarters by Friday afternoon and label them "Work Day".  Our volunteer workers will appreciate it! Two After-School Clubs Start Next Week
If your student is interested in extracurricular activities or after school clubs, don’t forget that these clubs are having their first meeting next week:
·         Roving Reporters - Wednesday 10/5 This is a journalism club  open to students in grades K-5. For more information, visit the Roving Reporters page on the Kingsley website.
·         First K-Kids Meeting – Thursday 10/6 K-Kids is a service organization aligned with Kiwanis and is open to 4th and 5th graders.  For more information, visit the K-Kids page on the Kingsley website.
DCPC Meeting – Wednesday 10/5
Have you ever heard another parent or teacher mention FTE? Do have questions about how schools are staffed? If so, you might want to attend this month's Dunwoody Chamblee Parent Council (DCPC) meeting.
Date: October 5, 2011 (Wednesday) Meeting Time: 9:15a.m. - refreshments begin at 8:45a.m. Meeting Location: Kittredge Magnet School Topic: "Understanding staffing our schools and FTE Points" Speakers: Susan Hurst, Director of Budgets, DCSS Division of Finance and Lisa Domzal, Director of Instructional Budgeting, Staffing and Scheduling, DCSS Division of Teaching and Learning DCPC meetings are held at various public venues within the Dunwoody Chamblee area. Meetings are open and topics are geared toward the interests of parents and guardians with children in Dunwoody and Chamblee schools in the DeKalb County School System. Time to send in your Box Tops and Campbell Soup Labels!
October is the month for our Classroom Collection Project for Box Tops and Campbell Soup Labels! Finally, all those valuable clippings you have kept in a Ziploc on the fridge, in the pantry or at your desk can be sent into school with your student right now!  And, each classroom is competing to see which one can collect the most items by Friday, October 28 in order to win a classroom prize.
