SET YOUR ALARMS! FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL IS MONDAY, AUGUST 8
Parents, it is our responsibility to ensure that our children start off the day right. Please consider the benefits your child receives by making it to school by 7:35am. They get settled, start on their work, hear all of the morning announcements and don’t feel rushed at the beginning of the school day. The school day officially starts at 7:50. Any students arriving after 7:50 must be signed in by a parent or guardian in the front office. Thank you for your help in reducing tardiness this year!
Here are a few tips to help you have a positive start to the school year:
Here are a few tips to help you have a positive start to the school year:
- Ensure your students have a reasonable bedtime in order to get up early without feeling too tired.
- Make sure you have enough time for a healthy breakfast each morning.
- Follow Kingsley’s carpool procedures. They are in place for the safety of our children! Carpool usually runs slower during the first few weeks of school, so patient and remember that you might need to leave the house a little earlier to prevent rushing. Here are a few key points to remember:
- DO NOT leave children to cross the street unattended. It is not safe to let your kids off in the street or ask them to exit with the bus riders for pick up in front of the school. Last year, we had several close-call incidents, so please be patient with carpool lines. It’s worth it for your child’s safety!
- DO NOT turn left into the carpool lane. Pedestrians and other drivers do not look for vehicles turning left since the street is one-way in the morning and afternoon. If you abide by the one-way traffic rule on Brendon Drive, all carpool drivers will have easy access to the carpool lane. This applies for both drop-off and pick-up.
- DO NOT park in front of the school as it blocks carpool and bus traffic and makes it very difficult for home owners.
- DO NOT park in the circular driveway in front of the school. This is driveway is only for busses.
- In the morning, DO drop your students off by 7:40 so they can hear the daily school announcements. Students may be dropped off as late as 7:50. At 7:50 doors are locked, and parents must walk their children into the school office and will be marked tardy.
- In the afternoon, DO pick our child up in the carpool lane. DO NOT wait in the front lobby to pick up your child. Only children riding the bus are allowed to exit early from the front of the school.
